My Vision Behind MITI
Hi, I’m Emily Bushell a passionate and experienced trauma therapist, educator, and consultant with over a decade of experience in the mental health field. As a Registered Counselling Therapist and Canadian Certified Counsellor Supervisor, I am dedicated to creating a supportive, trauma-informed space where both clinicians and clients can thrive.
I founded MITI because I wanted to create a resource for therapists to not only deepen their understanding of EMDR and trauma-informed care but also connect with others who are doing similar work.
After seeing firsthand how challenging it can be to navigate complex trauma cases in isolation, I realized the importance of providing therapists with the tools they need to continue evolving in their practice. MITI offers a space where learning, consultation, and community come together, ensuring that therapists have the support they need to thrive professionally and help their clients heal.
Healing Beyond the Therapy Room
We know that true healing doesn’t just happen within the four walls of a therapy room. It touches every aspect of a person’s life. That’s why MITI fosters collaboration across various disciplines—bringing together therapists, naturopaths, physical therapists, addictions counselors, and more. This multidisciplinary approach enriches us as practitioners and ensures holistic care for our clients.
MITI is in its early stages, and we’re excited to grow. If you're passionate about collaboration and ready to expand the impact of trauma-informed care, we’d love to connect with you. Let’s work together to create a stronger, more supportive healing network.

Emily founded the Maritime Integrative Trauma Institute (MITI) with a vision to provide accessible, high-quality continuing education for mental health professionals, particularly those specializing in EMDR and trauma-focused care. Lori McIsaac Bewsher, MSW, RSW
EMDRIA-Certified Therapist and Approved Consultant
Co-Founder, Maritime Integrative Trauma Institute (MITI)
Lori is a seasoned trauma therapist, educator, and EMDRIA-approved consultant who brings warmth, clarity, and depth to her work with fellow clinicians. With more than two decades of experience supporting clients through complex trauma, she now focuses much of her work on training and consultation—helping therapists build confidence and competence in trauma-informed care.
At MITI, Lori facilitates EMDR consultation groups, offers one-on-one support for clinicians pursuing certification, and co-leads training initiatives that explore the intersections of EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and structural dissociation theory. Her approach to consultation is relational and grounded in real clinical work. She meets therapists where they are and helps them strengthen both their skills and their sense of self as a therapist.
Lori is particularly passionate about supporting clinicians who work with attachment wounds, early emotional neglect, and trauma stored in the body. She encourages a pace and process that honours the therapist’s learning curve while always centering the client’s safety and capacity.
